Getting a Drill Rig Back to Work

Foundation Equipment Services was selected to assist a valued customer with major repairs to their dedicated Delmag RH34 drill rig after the machine suffered damage to the main mast assembly, resulting in a deflection of up to 3.25”. To properly complete the repair, the entire mast assembly was removed and stripped of all major components including winches, wire ropes, hydraulics, and electrical systems before being sent to one of our trusted repair partners for structural repair and re-certification.

While the mast assembly was away for repairs, the FES team utilized the downtime to carry out maintenance and improvements to the carrier, including giving the machine a completely refreshed appearance with a new wrap package. Once the repaired mast returned, the machine was fully re-assembled with new ropes, sheave wheels, electrical clean up, and additional upgrades aimed at improving the long-term reliability and serviceability of the machine.

By choosing repair and restoration over complete replacement, the customer was able to dramatically reduce downtime, cost, and long lead times associated with new components.
